The TV remote control or simply the remote control
Televisions, change at the speed of light. The technologies behind them are constantly changing, always the same thing – it’s the TV control panel.
A thing that is slowly changing – and although some manufacturers tried to offer something a few years ago, many still decided to stick to the old schemes. Those that, in my opinion, should have been forgotten long ago, because today they simply are not needed.
Despite the fact that the origins of television remotes have been raised since the fifties of the previous century, in the question of the remote control itself, in years, everything changes … very slowly. It’s hard to say, that he stood still, because technologies, quality of performance, simplicity in operation change.
However, in many cases in the 21st century the remote from the TV resembles this one to ten, twenty or thirty years ago, a piece of plastic, and there are several dozen buttons on it.
If it was once possible to justify such a choice by the absence of another alternative, because the interfaces and extended menus on TVs simply did not exist – so much so at present, with such advanced systems that we get at our disposal, completely at variance with logic.
I know that I am not a standard TV user – I’m not a fan of watching TV. But from what I know, those who watch TV basically get to this piece of plastic to turn on the device – all the rest are often satisfied with the consoles for decoders or universal consoles.
Therefore, the digraphic box is for me a small piece of hypertrophy over the content. First of all, the remote control becomes much more for them than just a box, I have not used them myself since the end of VCRs.
And many modern devices can be successfully controlled thanks to legible interfaces – whether it’s a VOD service or a BD player. Well, maybe people actually use this, but I’m looking, too picky?
Sometimes less means more
In recent years, TV manufacturers are increasingly trying to create something new. There was a time with remote controllers, with which we could hardly adjust and select the parameters that interest us. Honestly – I never liked this solution, because they, often very small, did not suit the number of buttons, and most importantly – often had a corresponding set of arrows on the console itself.
There was a time when manufacturers gave a choice – and in the box you could find two remote controllers. One “classic”, the second – a small and modern. Luckily, at the present time, more and more in the market you will see models of TVs that operate under these small pushers.
Maybe it was not my luck, but I see these remote controls (mostly) for medium and high-level options.
Although this is also not to everyone’s liking, because some firmly insist on dozens of keys, of which the lion’s share of users, never will. Because, except for volume, channel switching is used only with arrows, which can be moved by settings and installed in TV applications.
It seems to be a trifle – the remote for the TV. But every time, thinking about users and looking at many of these devices I have the impression that their developers do not care about them at all. Although maybe I’m wrong – can it really be my personal approach to the TV topic is too picky, and not the TV control consoles themselves?
